Washington- A toxic algal bloom has been spotted on Lake Washington, on the shores near Arrowhead Point. King County officials are encouraging people to keep themselves, and their pets, out of the water, as exposure to the toxins could cause flu-like symptoms.
While recent warm weather contributed to the earlier-than-usual bloom, officials, in a release, asked locals to do what they could to reduce nutrient runoff into the lake. "People can help prevent blooms by preventing nutrient runoff into the lake. Nutrients can come from daily activities such as car washing and fertilizing yards or gardens.
