Update: Battle Against Water Soldier Continues in Trent River

The only known infestation of Water soldier in North America has been getting attention from professionals since 2008, yet the invasive has spread so much that surveyors can’t navigate their canoes through patches visible on the Trent’s surface. “We had to go around the patches,” said Christine Brennan, member of the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters Invasive Species Outreach team. Brennan hopes to raise awareness for more than just professionals and those who reside on the river’s banks, ‘A lot of people really don’t know about it. The people who are really concerned live on the Trent. It’s taking over.”
