     The Department of Fish and Wildlife has a new microplate reader which allows them to quickly test water samples for toxins such as microcystis. Produced by cyanobacteria, or blue-green algae, the toxin is a concern for small animals, livestock and humans. The reader, donated to the Department, can run multiple samples simultaneously; check out the video below to see the device in action.
